D1scussion - The Forum for professional photographers using Nikon DSLR cameras

D1scussion provides an ongoing conversation for professional photographers and passionate amateurs alike. Founded December 10th, 1999, or to be exact 13 years, 6 months, 1 week and 5 days ago, it has currently 1,853 active members.

Back in 1999 when Nikon released the Nikon D1 and sparked the digital photography (r)evolution, only a selected few could afford this camera and there was no online forum to exchange knowledge between these newly turned digital photographers. To fill this gap, Tokyo based photographer Juergen Specht founded D1scussion.

Since then Nikon released many more digital cameras and D1scussion members discussed these in sofar 117,559 posts, an average of 24 per day and 59 in the last week alone. All of these posts are accessible in the archive, creating an incredible knowledgebase. Even better, the 1,853 subscribed international members are based around the globe in any imaginable time zone and questions in the forum are often answered faster then it takes to look for answers in a manual.

D1scussion is different than many other forums, the average member of D1scussion is about 45 years old, stays in average subscribed for 7 years, 9 months, 1 week and 3 days, has an average involvement in professional photography of more than 25 years, turning D1scussion into a wisdom filled resource of incredible 46,325 man years of photographic knowledge. Additionally D1scussion is well maintained and members use their real names, not silly aliases like "NikonDude69", leading to a very respectful and disciplined knowledge exchange with a very low noise vs. signal factor.

Initially just a mailing list, now posts can be read by members via email, as daily digest, as RSS feed or via web interface.

D1scussion is a free, private, independent service provided by Juergen Specht and everybody is welcome to become a member.
